Greetings, Mayflower members.

We will be having a meeting on Saturday, October 24, 2026 from 1PM-3PM at the home of member Steve Watson and his wife Cynthia. They have graciously offered a light lunch and drinks. Their address is 321 Retreat Way, Asheville, NC 28804. It is located in North Asheville off New Stock Rd. exit. There is a gate code of #9246. The house location can be found on GPS. If you want more directions , you can call Steve on his cell at 828-777-9246 or 828-713-7925. Please let me know you are coming so the Watson’s will know how many to prepare for. Jill- text at 828-553-9649 or [email protected].

We will have a guest speaker, Doug Powell, speaking on our forefathers. Doug is well versed in history and has additional knowledge one does not learn in school. Do come and enjoy his information.

The North Carolina Mayflower annual meeting will be in Morganton on Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7, 2026. We have been asked to bring table decorations. Do I have volunteers who will be attending and can bring items for the dining tables?

My husband, Larry, our daughter, Ann, and I went to Plymouth during the General Society of Mayflower Descendants annual meeting. Ann walked in the Pilgrim Progress walk, went aboard the Mayflower II ship, visited Burial Hill above the Meeting House, saw the Forefathers Monument and visited Salem. The highlight of the trip was a special visit to an old house that my ancestors lived in during the 1600’s. I have been to Plymouth a number of times but never knew of this house. The Churchill-Creeden House. Built in 1661. Third oldest house in Massachusetts. Now the home of Elizabeth Creeden who has been making a tapestry showing the Pilgrims coming to and living in Plymouth. She and other stitchers have been working on this project for 10 years and have two more panels to finish to complete the work of art. The tapestry will be on display at the Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth. There are two panels on display at the museum now. An amazing project!

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting in October 24th. Bring anyone interested in joining the society.

Best regards,

Jill S. Chapman
